Belgium-based artificial intelligence software provider Maya has raised €1 million as it develops its white-label AI assistant for travel companies.
The funding, which included investment from key executives from Lighthouse, will be used to fuel global growth and improve the capabilities of Maya's AI agent solution.
Travel providers can train Maya on their own content so it can then provide personalized service to their customers through a chatbot as well as through email, WhatsApp and other platforms.

"Generic AI applications and chatbots for customer service have proven to be ineffective for innovative travel companies due to their high error rates. They also do not contribute to increased sales," said Joris Vanherp, CEO and co-founder of Maya. "Only an industry-specific solution like Maya can deliver a great user experience, providing 100% relevant recommendations and reliable answers which is essential for real business impact."
Currently, more than 20 companies are using Maya including Travelbase, Joker, Noorderhuis and Frenchly. Maya claims that those businesses have seen a 20% boost in sales and are able to help travelers more quickly and effectively based.
"The regions with the highest standards in hospitality, such as the Middle East, are heavily investing in AI, and Maya can play a key role there," said Benjamin Manzi, chief commercial officer and co-founder of Maya.
The company said it will also use the funding to grow its sales and engineering teams.
