Thatch, a mobile app for travel content creators, has closed a $3 million seed round.
The seed investment for the company was led by Wave Capital with Freestyle and Netflix founder Mark Randolph also participating.
The company has raised just over $5 million to date.
Thatch helps travel creators monetize their content by enabling them to build their own travel-related businesses.
Currently the platform helps them collect, curate and share travel insight but the plan is to use the funding to launch features for selling interactive guides.
West Askew, founder and CEO of Thatch, says: “We founded Thatch on the shared vision of connecting a global community of travelers and Travel Creators through the power of a well planned trip. Building the tools Travel Creators need to better connect with their audience and tap into their massive earning potential is the first big step on our journey to shaping the future of consumer travel services.”
Thatch previously offered a subscription-based travel service to consumers, matching them with an ‘Experience Creator’ to help research and plan trips.
However, the startup’s founders believe there’s a bigger opportunity in helping travel creators derive value from their audiences.
